Description

I've made a lot of things over the last 50 years, but I have to admit, this ranks among the best of my favorites. Queen Chrysalis stands 22" tall to the top of her head, which is to scale for 14" mane 6 ponies. She is made of minky, with organza wings, and a poly satin "saddle". She's got an internal frame and is pose-able, including her head. This is only my second plush, so I'm not quite ready to share my secrets or do commissions. For more information on those subjects, please see this journal entry: [link] Thanks for understanding :)

WARNING: I'm a somewhat prudish old mom! I'm SO grateful for all the wonderful compliments and encouragement, but if you post with profanity, I'm going to hide it. Thanks for keeping it SFW :) And, thanks so much to everybody who suggested this plushie to be featured in Equestria Daily or as a Daily Deviation!

This plushie has been sold. Any new plushies will be uploaded to my dA gallery before being auctioned.

UPDATE: It is apparent that I owe some apologies. I have made a few privately, but I will post one here, because I am sure there are more people watching this page that are unhappy with me. This description previously stated that Chrysalis was not available for sale, but that if that changed, I would let people know with an update to this page. Although I had never intended to sell her outside of an ebay auction, I chose to sell her privately, under special circumstances. Although she was never generally available, I should have updated the description to reflect changing circumstances. For those of you who were watching this page in anticipation of her becoming available, I am very sorry for having handled this in a way which was unclear, and which left some of you frustrated and upset.

My plan was to list her on ebay within a week or two of uploading the photos, and to update the information in the description. That's what I did with my first plush. Shortly after I uploaded the first Chrysalis photo, I got hit with a flood of messages and notes regarding a potential buyer. After a great deal of consideration, I chose to do a one-time private sale for a number of personal and professional reasons. It was a unique situation, and I would not have sold her privately under normal circumstances. At the time, I had only received the one serious inquiry for her. If it had fallen through, I would have gone ahead with an auction which I would have notified people about.

I made a number of updates to this page the first few days. I eventually realized that each time I did so, my page took a negative hit in the dA search results. Nobody really knew who I was a month ago, and I was just trying to get started. When you’re new and worried that no one will see your work, it’s painful to keep getting pushed down in the search results. At the time, I felt that I had to quit updating through the description. Instead, I put up some comments regarding the sale, and I referenced it in my journal. I thought that people knew, but it is clear that neither of these strategies completely compensated for the lack of updates to the description. I have left people upset, for which I am very sorry. With how many views this page now has, it seems silly to have been concerned about search rankings, but at the time, it seemed appropriate.

I do plan to make at least one more Chrysalis this year, and I've already bought all the materials. I'm learning to use an embroidery machine, and new versions will have higher quality details than the one pictured here. I’m working on another design right now, so it will have to wait a bit.

Sadly, as much as I enjoy making plushies, when it comes to sales, I regularly get the message that I’m spreading far more disappointment than joy. Whether it's private sale or auction, I end up with 1 happy person and scores of unhappy ones. I will never be able to work quickly enough or cheaply enough to balance that out in any way that resembles satisfactory. That’s the real down side of this for me.

Again, I'm really sorry.
